Silent Breath Honest Review: It's an Atmospheric & Claustrophobic Masterpiece

In Silent Breath, you have to face your worst fear i.e. the fear of death with each step you walk in the traumatizing world of this game – it’s like sitting on a Ferris wheel in the sense that you will get delirious with excitement but will also experience insufferable paranoia during the entire duration of that ride. Silent Breath is not your typical horror game where you roam inside a house and hide from the entities, it’s something more challenging than that. Here’s our review of Silent Breath summarised through 5 points.

5 Points to Sum up the Silent Breath Review

1. The Jumpscares Will Make your Soul Dissociate

Silent Breath Honest Review: It's an Atmospheric & Claustrophobic Masterpiece

You are exploring the haunting locations of Silent Breath & your heart is already beating like a snare drum, and to make things worse – a creature suddenly stands in front to admire its scrumptious meal(you) and then a crunch-like voice is heard, indicating that you’ve become food. Some creatures look so satanic & evil that you will reach out for the holy scriptures – you are going to experience a dry mouth and hurried breaths when you hear a monster’s growling voice becoming loud and clear. There are non-scary jumpscares as well that are harmless – those jumpscares are juvenile and feel like detaching a blood-sucking leech from your leg.

The most intense scare in the game you will feel is when you try to ignore a creature, walk away and then silently hear your trail being followed – you are going to feel like a happy-go-lucky mouse enjoying the night walk in a jungle who suddenly feels the stinging sensation of venomous fangs being inserted into it’s body like a hook, and it’s game over.

2. The Gameplay is Suffocatingly Eerie

Even though you are roaming free in a jungle, there’s an undeniably creepy vibe that comes with the unpredictability of the night – you are going to light a torch and wander in the hope of not being suddenly jumped by a blood-thirsty entity. You have to breathe silently as the microphone picks up your voice and monsters approach you based on how scary & hurried your breath sounds – you are going to feel short of breath after a while as you have to breathe stealthily many times to avoid attracting those deadly monsters who are prowling in the night.

The helplessness of having no direction is what makes this game suffocating – hearing the noise of leaves rustling coming behind you, covering your mouth to avoid being detected and not knowing how to escape this hell is the real genius of Silent Breath.

3. The Monsters Have a Lot of Swagger

The monster in the image above looks similar to the satanic entity shown in the movie series Jeepers Creepers – he looks quite similar to the hellish creature in the movie who looks dapper even while devouring humans. The monsters in Silent Breath walk with a lion-like authority in the night of the jungle – they walk as if they own the jungle. The creatures are creepy and repulsively ugly but have a lot of confidence – they will look you straight in the eye with a confrontational look on their faces as if you have arrived unannounced at their late-night party at their hideous creatures club.

4. The Abandoned Imagery Takes the Chills to Level 100

A scary-looking abandoned place with skeletons, a haunted graveyard with shrieking sounds, an abandoned gas station with a rusty car and a theme park that comes alive at night – you are going to experience pangs of anxiety while roaming around these parts. A bunch of dummies sitting on the seats of the Ferris wheel – the decaying amusement park aesthetic looks gorgeous and spooky. You are going to get mini heart attacks if you get a jumpscare in the theme park – the contrast of a haunting night & the joy-filled nostalgia associated with the theme park rides is insanely creative. You won’t be able to stop yourself from exploring the park rides but you are also going to experience heart-pounding moments.

The abandoned places have a rustic old-world charm to them – Silent Breath looks breathtakingly cinematic, thanks to the rust-covered objects and abandoned buildings with hideous creatures lurking around.

5. A Simple Objective That Will Make Your Heart Race

Your objective in Silent Breath is to take 5 photographs & stay alive, and if you see the daylight again then it means you have completed the game. There will be creatures chasing you in the night who are just waiting for you to look back once, visuals so terrifying that it will make you sick in the stomach, satanic entities that will disappear in a flash after frightening you and creatures who will stare you with the most demonic playfulness reflecting through their red eyes – the game restarts again and again after you die, it feels like learning to ride the bicycle as you’re frightened to fall but too excited to give up.

Silent Breath is incredibly addictive if you take it on your ego – the entire gameplay is like the final boss that you have to defeat if you want to brag in front of your friends.
