Tempus Triad is a survival horror game where you play the role of a scientist who wakes up in the era of dinosaurs after a mishap with his functional time machine, and his only objective in the game is to survive somehow and get back home. In their early release demo, Tempus Triad says, and I quote, “Enter a world of mystery and danger where science blends with the unknown.” To check whether these heavy claims of entertainment resonate with the gameplay or not, we reviewed the Tempus Triad demo.
Tempus Triad Demo Review
1. Sharknado movie seems Oscar worthy when compared to this screenplay
Military base-level architecture, a fog-covered jungle with fireflies everywhere, a helicopter that comes down crashing out of nowhere, and the inclusion of a time machine – The Tempus Triad demo tries to throw in everything to make the recipe standout but the end product turns out to be a disgusting, sloppy mess that one wouldn’t even feed their arch-nemesis. The screenplay feels confused; there’s not even an iota of depth or anything grave going on. You are going to appreciate the “leave your brain at home” type of slasher films even more after playing the Tempus Triad demo. Honestly, even the sour burps during acid reflex have more flavor in them compared to this stale pickle of a screenplay.
There is no sense of direction, and you won’t understand what’s going on. A question i.e., “What is the point of all this?” is going to pop into your mind several times while playing this confusing game. The screenplay & script of this demo are like a cheap joke played by the developers.
2. Cheap Jurasssic Park knockoff vibes
The iconic shadow shot from Jurassic Park 1, where the siblings encounter the raptors in the kitchen, is used as an inspiration in Tempus Triad and will hit you like a nostalgia-filled truck. The heavy dispersion of fog everywhere, the attempt at a recreation of Hammond’s Isla Nublar facility, and the design similarity of the theme park roads from Jurassic Park hints at the lack of brainstorming that went into the making of Tempus Triad. Even a 3rd grader puts more effort into his/her soda mountain volcano project at school compared to what the developers did while making this demo.
3. The game achieves an impossible feat of making dinosaurs boring
What’s the most exciting movie franchise in the world related to dinosaurs, you’re right, it is Jurassic Park. The reason being the dinosaurs & their unpredictable nature, sharp teeth and claws that can devour any human within seconds. It excites us humans to see what miraculously ferocious beasts ‘Jurassic Park’ brings back to life. The common notion of “Dinosaurs are fun” has been broken into a million shards by the developers of Tempus Triad.
The whole premise of the demo is “the dinosaur will follow you only when you turn your back on it”, and it might have sounded like a “once in a decade” kind of genius idea to the developers during creative meetings, but what it really becomes for the gamer is a “snooze fest.” You don’t need to hear grandma’s stories to sleep any more; Tempus Triad’s demo will bore you to sleep within a few minutes of gameplay.
4. Beautiful visuals that soothe your conscience
The visuals of Tempus Triad are the only consolation you’re going to get with its disappointing storyline and screenplay. Walking on the lonely tarmac, surrounded by haunting shadows, glistening insects, and vegetation, makes for a therapeutic extravaganza. You’re going to get shell-shocked by the visual splendor of this otherwise hollow and boring gameplay. There’s plenty of foliage to keep you from throwing a punch into your monitor out of pure frustration that a gamer gets after playing an excruciatingly boring game. The graphics are beautiful & sharp enough to keep you visually delighted. The fog aesthetic enhances the unpredictability & gives the game some visual depth.
5. A buzzing mosquito is more horrifying than this demo
Sorry to say, but nothing is terrifying about Tempus Triad’s demo. The sharp-clawed dinosaur that’s supposed to be scary in the game turns out to be less scary than the haunted dolls shown in horror movies. For the first time while playing a dinosaur game, you’re going to feel pity for the dinosaur as its menacing stature has been reduced to nothing. You will get more scared while trying to hold your fart in during a meeting, than while playing this clownishly unamusing game.
