Fossilfuel 2 Review: A ‘Fossil Fueled’ Joyride

Fossilfuel 2 Review: A 'Fossil Fueled' Joyride

Fossilfuel 2 is the sequel to the absolutely terrifying dino horror game known as Fossilfuel. It proudly contradicts the norm associated with sequels usually, i.e., being a terrible wannabe product that doesn’t even provide half the exhilaration its predecessor delighted you with. On the contrary, Fossilfuel 2 surpassed the first game and passed the entertainment test with flying colors. What makes Fossilfuel 2 so special and likable among fans of horror and dinosaur nerds? To understand better, you can read our thoughts about Fossilfuel 2, mentioned in the review down below.

Fossilfuel 2 Review

1. Astonishing Creatures that will make you scream with terror

Fossilfuel 2 breathes some life into the forgotten books of oceanic history by bringing back the personification of prehistoric oceanic horror, i.e., a creature who makes the shark from Jaws look like a cute water puppy, aka the undisputed king of the ocean, the one they call the Megalodon. Seeing this ferocious monstrosity come near will make you believe in the urban legends propagated by sailors of the past. Apart from the Meg, there are absurdly designed dinosaurs & some hideously repulsive fish that you might have seen in the movie ‘Finding Nemo’.

Apart from the obviously scary razor-toothed dinosaurs, there are plenty of disgusting & visually appalling entities that are going to scare you out of your wits in Fossilfuel 2.

2. A debilitating suspense is always in the air

The palpitations that Ellie Sattler from Jurassic Park 1 feels while trying to reset the electricity grid despite the terror of a looming death in the form of Velociraptor – you’re going to feel a similar spine-removing and mouth-drying feeling of impending doom as you enter each room. The clawed-on walls of the scientific facility send a scary thought in your mind, i.e., “There are razor-sharp claws and teeth in close proximity that are ready to feast upon me.” The sheer anticipation from listening to approaching steps and feral grunts of the Velociraptor getting more visceral will give you a short-lived panic attack that one feels inside a zoo while looking at a caged lion eye-to-eye.

Fossilfuel 2 is going to make you feel glad that you’re behind a computer screen and not inside this nightmarish facility that could very well become your graveyard within seconds.

3. It lets you unleash absolute carnage on scary monstrosities

If you have ever been a dinosaur nerd who has dreamt of being stuck in a dino-horror situation in your school where you come out alive & rescue your classmates by eliminating the pack-hunting Velociraptors, then Fossilfuel 2 is going to help you realize this surreal dream of being a hero. You are going to look the most absurd, hideous, and ferocious beasts in the eye & take a test drive of your bravado by trying to obliterate them from existence. Robotically enhanced T-rexs, more horrifying & close to historical versions of Velociraptors, mutated monsters that remind you of monsters from Far Cry 1, and mercenaries are going to be your major concern during the gameplay.

You’ll take a sigh of relief after eliminating the terrifying creatures of Fossilfuel 2. The weapon combat feels quite similar to that of Crysis 1 in terms of the visual vibe it gives.

4. Trippy Visuals that keep you eager for more

The visuals look extremely polished, smoothened, and almost too gorgeous to be a murderous playground for the dinosaurs. The visual undertones in the game offer almost everything, i.e., disgusting scenarios that will make you puke, long grass and foliage-heavy aesthetics of the wild that alert you about lurking dinosaurs & distorted visuals of being underwater that make you feel partially safe. Fossilfuel 2 feels less like a dinosaur horror game and more like a Jurassic Park simulation game, as it strongly immerses you inside its gorgeous yet haunting world. The visuals look surreal & also create a feeling of dread and despair in your heart slowly as you move forward in the game.

5. Amazing Jumpscares & heart thumping moments

The Dilophosaurus jumpscare will immediately remind you of the horrific incident that happened with Dennis Nedry in Jurassic Park 1. As soon as it shrieks at you with its shrilling voice, you will get a hit of nostalgia. Apart from the Dilophosaurus, there are many circumstantial jumpscares in the game, like facing a hoard of dinosaurs running towards you or seeing a huge pair of teeth right before the screen shows “You died”. The sudden boost of speed in huge dinosaurs, a ferocious beast pouncing on you out of nowhere, and hearing the heart-stopping growl of Velociraptor emerging from right behind – you’re going to feel your heart race quite often in Fossifuel 2.

Overall, the game packs a hefty punch.
