Madness Inside is a horror game that takes place inside a hospital, where you play the role of Lieutenant Vic Voight, who lands up at an abandoned hospital in the search of a man named Hartman. Strange events start happening in the hospital, and you, as Vic Voight, have to decipher the mystery revolving around the disappearance of Hartman. The game feels like an episode of a horror show, more than a game, but in an impressive way. You are going to feel claustrophobic, gut-sickened, and terrified at the same time while playing Madness Inside. Here’s our review of Madness Inside.
Madness Inside Review
Storytelling is impressive and climax is even better
The game begins with a cutscene showing Vic Voight getting into an accident while on his way to the hospital. After the accident and amidst the flaming of cars, a foot stomps on the ground heavily, belonging to a mysterious man – it creates amazing anticipation in the hearts of gamers, leaving them salivating for what’s coming next. The use of pictures and blood-stained letters in Madness Inside adds an undeniably cinematic and gritty feel to it. Without giving much away, I would say that your reaction at the end of “The Sixth Sense” is going to be replicated when you near the end of Madness Inside.
In simple words, the climax is a shocker. Overall, the storytelling grips you like sandpaper.
There are some “Heart in Mouth” moments in the game
Waking up in an almost-locked, claustrophobic room, peeking through the crevices of a concealed space and watching a dead entity wiggle, watching an inhumane, cursed entity gaze into your soul and suddenly disappear, seeing a monstrosity crawl on the walls and hearing someone wail are some of the terrifying moments that you are going to experience in Madness Inside. You are going to feel like turning around but you would be too shaken up to do so. Your heart is going to beat mercilessly like the drum at a rock concert throughout the game. Each step, creak, and minor sound effect in the game feels like the beginning of a hellish nightmare.
Weird visuals that will keep your imagination running
There are blood-stained letters that are going to straight out warn you of grave dangers lurking ahead, and there are cryptic images that look like the cryptic symbols of Satan in the game. You will find yourself wondering, “What kind of a dystopian, creepy, jail-like, hell-like, cursed situation have I put myself into?”. There are some weird depictions of the idea of education portrayed through mannequins that look like a piece of abstract art pulled out from a museum, but they look extremely unnerving, creepy, and out of place. While exploring the haunted hospital, you’re going to think, “I can’t believe this place used to save people’s lives.”.
The gut-turning, hellish-red aesthetic, dread-filled atmosphere, and nerve-wracking vibe of the hospital are going to make your skin crawl with disgust, fear, and a complete absence of hope. Overall, the visuals are grimy, gloomy, and vomit-inducing.
A strong feeling of being watched by evil entities
There are glimpses of evil entities getting scattered, almost dissolved into the atmosphere by losing their structural integrity, looking like some evil-intended dark magic – it will solidify your haunting suspicion to spine-chilling confirmation of being watched by the agents of evil that secretly roam around the haunted hospital. Despite your heart being on the verge of exploding any second from now, you have to unlock new doors and enter new rooms to complete your objectives in the game. Overall, Madness Inside is an extremely scary game that has the potential to beat famous games like Resident Evil 7 if given more characters and a better storyline.
We would give Madness Inside a solid 3.5 out of 5 for its genuine, atmospheric, and non-gimmicky scares.
