The Cabin Factory is a horror game that comes with an objective to check whether a cabin is haunted or not. You will have to get inside each of these mobile cabins, check for any hauntings or terrifying elements, and approve or disapprove them. The Cabin Factory depends on your claustrophobia and anticipation, but is it enough?. Can a game skate only on its looks, or does it need riveting dialogues, menacing characters, or even a simple plot.? Let’s understand what happens in The Cabin Factory in our review down below.
The Cabin Factory Review
1. Looks like a million bucks
From the glistening & flawless textures of modern architecture to the extremely gritty, rugged, and sandpaperishly rough visual vibe of the wooden cabins, The Cabin Factory delivers a spellbinding and stimulating visual experience. The Cabin Factory has a AAA game-like visual appeal, but there’s not much character to these gorgeous characters. You are going to feel like you’re taking a look at a beautiful sculpture that has no expressions or soulfulness in its demeanor while playing this visually stimulating game. This game is like that gorgeous actress whose interviews you find extremely boring. Basically, the game has drop-dead gorgeous looks but a bland personality.
2. Doesn’t scare you out of your wits
Yes, it does provide some chills here and there, but the ice seems to be melting quickly and losing its effect. The ominous and echoing background music can only scare you to a certain extent, and after that, it becomes boring. The game looks and feels like a low-budget horror movie that has predictable scary moments and absolutely no plot whatsoever. The scary moments in the game are an insult to your intelligence, and they will not quench your thirst for some genuine bone-chilling jumpscares that horror fans usually crave. The visuals are genuinely intriguing and might pique your interest with their unique nature.
The Cabin Factory is not scary like a ghost but scary like an alien, which means that you might find it absurdly intriguing, but your bones won’t shake while playing it.
3. All bark and no bite
A creepy picture that gazes into your soul, a frozen snowfall-like scenery that adds a grim & cold vibe to the cabin, mannequins that look like they’re about to come to life any second from now, and a tense atmosphere are some of the things that make “The Cabin Factory” look like a horror game, but it doesn’t feel like one still. You are never going to feel that an entity is going to emerge from the shadows and pounce on you, as they show in genuinely scary horror films like The Conjuring, Insidious, etc. The horror element of the game is going to scare you but not make your heart palpitate in pure terror, if it makes any sense.
A dog chasing you in the night at a brisk pace is going to terrify you more than this game ever does. The game is all bark and no bite.
4. Creepy is its only strength
You’re going to be working at a shady organization that can flexibly change their policies according to their mood as a cabin inspector. From the game’s first shot with your character standing in the elevator, it starts to look and sound like a suicide mission. The main character’s lifeless & inexpressive face, the devious smile of some of the mannequins in the cabin, the eyes of a woman who follow you, a creepy man looking at you from outside the cabin, and a menacing child who looks at you like he’s looking at his meal – you are going to get creeped out, surely, if not scared out of your wits.
The Cabin Factory wins in terms of creating an atmosphere that makes your skin crawl. Overall, it’s a one-time play.
