Whale Flesh is a 2025 first-person horror game that lets you explore the fleshy insides of a massive whale for scientific research purposes. You will have to mostly dig your way through the game, making it an incredibly suspenseful experience. Your objective in the game is to follow the radio signals sent by the researchers who went inside the creature before you and investigate the true nature of this abnormally gigantic whale. There’s a lot of responsibility on your shoulders as you are the last ray of hope for the scientific teams looking for a breakthrough. We played the game and found it to be an unnerving, visceral experience. Here’s our review of Whale Flesh.
Come explore a fleshy world
The entire tour inside consists of blood, veins, and copious amounts of flesh – it almost feels like you’re inside a UFO made entirely out of flesh. Just like Minecraft, you have to dig to get out of claustrophobic spaces and into somewhere more breathable. The sound of flesh-digging and loaves of meat blasting out is disgustingly squishy, and it just makes you puke. ‘Whale Flesh’ is not for the squeamish or someone with a weak stomach or a low tolerance for gore and slashing sounds. There are lifts and metallic platforms inside the whale’s body to facilitate your travel, but the visual environment still feels extremely uncomfortable.
The hellish-red color scheme of the game gives it an inhabitable and alien vibe. It’s a delightfully peculiar experience for gore lovers.
Absurdity galore
Metallic boxes that transport you inside the gooey and messy insides of the whale, huge and bloodshot eye-like objects that look weird, skeletons of senior researchers, and clues are some of the spooky and eerie things that you are going to witness during your fleshy expedition inside the whale. The entire setup of you following the green-emitting radio signals and flesh-digging seems absurd and suspicious—you are going to feel as if you’re a sacrificial lamb who might get slaughtered any second. The fleshy insides of the whale being illuminated by your torch is a disgustingly exploratory experience for horror geeks—it almost feels like you’re exploring the underworld.
Beware of the parasites
During your expedition, you’re going to witness the hands of unknown creatures being retracted on detecting your presence and unassuming creatures that might turn out to be the death of you. You have to be extremely vigilant and mindful of your hellish-red surroundings as creepy creatures are lurking somewhere nearby. Do not get carried away and try to follow mysterious creatures into the darkness; just follow the radio signals, and you’ll be fine. There are going to be certain floating things that follow you; be careful of them. Try to avoid the parasites for as long as you can.
A bizarre ending that leaves you thinking
Just when you think, What could be more bizarre than seeing a monstrous skull and floating masks inside a whale? You are going to witness a feeble, childlike creature transform into a devilishly large-mouthed creature with bloodshot eyes and spiky teeth. A hand will arise out of the demonic mouth and entrap you through magic. You are going to feel as if you have been shrunk by a laser gun and trapped inside a skull-like object. At the climax of ‘Whale Flesh,’ you are lying on the ground and wondering, ‘Am I a parasite now just like the one who put me in this miserable condition?”. You’re going to enjoy the absurd nature of this game.
